It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Sunshine, buds and of course, some delicious drinks on the patio. What could possibly ruin such a perfect day drinking experience? Well, you may just be dealt a crippling hangover before the sun goes down.

Here are a few guilt free options to try out on the deck this year that won’t have you reaching for the Advil.

1) Zero Proof Sangria

You may be thinking - how does one make a sangria without WINE? While nothing may properly replace a good pinot or merlot, mixing 2 cups of cranberry juice and 2 cups of ginger beer might just fill the void. Add in your favourite fresh, seasonal fruits - this recipe suggests pineapple, oranges and passion fruit. Decorate with mint leaves and pomegranate seeds and you got yourself a virgin sangria worth freaking out about. Get the recipe here.

2) Libra Non-Alcoholic Craft Beer

There’s something about sipping on an ice cold craft beer on a nice warm day. Don’t sweat it. Libra is the perfect substitute for a heavy glass of hops and carbs. It tastes just like a deliciously light pale ale with no catch. .4% alcohol and just 30 calories. Find it online.

3) Strawberry Ginger Lemonade

You really can’t beat the nostalgic taste of lemonade when the sun is shining. Kick things up a notch with this recipe by Alison Roman. All you need is some strawberries, ginger, lemons, and maple syrup. Yes please! Find how to make this crowd pleaser here.

4) Kombucha

If you haven’t hopped on the Kombucha train yet, this is your sign to do so. Not only is this fermented tea full of health benefits, it’s a flavorful substitute for alcohol. Gamechanger. Check out your local Kombucha options in the produce section of most grocers. Read about some of the benefits here.

5) Virgin Blackberry Mojito

Nothing says refreshing drink on a summer day like a mojito does. Lime, mint, and club soda are some of the most thirst quenching flavours around. Adding in blackberries adds a bit of tang and freshness that you didn’t know you needed. Check out this yummy recipe here.
