Libra is brewed in the smallest province in Canada, Prince Edward Island. We are very proud of our Island roots and the tiny city we come from. Like most local businesses, we started small too.
Upstreet Craft Brewing was founded in 2015 out of a love of craft beer, community and music. Our CEO Mitch wanted to create a business that not only made delicious beverages but gave back to the people in the community that we were serving.
On June 26th, 2015, Upstreet opened its doors with three flagship beers, a 91 seat taproom and no idea what the future would bring. Every year since, June 26th has been known as Upstreet Day, a day for us to treat our staff and celebrate all things Upstreet. (Here’s us celebrating this year:)
As we continued to gain momentum rapidly, giving back to our people was still at the forefront of our minds. Upstreet’s mission statement has always been to ‘refresh the community’ and one way we began to do that was with our Do Good Fund in 2017.
We firmly believe that arts are a fundamental part of a strong community. We began to take 10% of sales from our flagship APA, Do Gooder and put it in our Do Good Fund, which supports local arts and culture initiatives. Since launching, the fund has supported our community through sponsorships, donations, events, artist residencies and more.
After many years of learning and changing, Libra was born. Fast forward to 2022, and we are now available Canada wide, with 4 flagship beers, and delicious seasonal flavours to try.
We know that we couldn’t have made it this far without the support and love from our fellow Islanders. We have leaned on many PEI businesses through the years and continue to source locally first, whenever possible.
As Libra continues to expand, we want to thank our customers who have been there since DAY ONE! We love you, PEI. We are SO proud to be made local.
