Earth Day is just around the corner- how are YOU going to spend it? We’ve got a few small ideas and thought starters for inspiration. Every action (no matter how small) can help make a difference in protecting our planet!
Save H2o- Make a conscious effort to conserve water. Reducing our water usage reduces the energy required to process and deliver it to homes, businesses, farms, and communities, which, in turn, helps to reduce pollution and conserve fuel resources. Not sure how to go about this? A few easy places to start could be turning off the faucet while brushing your teeth, taking shorter showers or fixing a leak.
Do a garbage clean up- Take a walk around your neighborhood with some garbage bags, gloves and pick up any plastics or pollution you see. Most ditches need a good spring cleaning after the snow melts. Your community will thank you for it!
Take the bike- Swap out the car for a bike on your daily commute and see how it feels. You’ll get to have a bit of exercise to start your day while also soaking up some vitamin D. Plus, every bike ride that replaces a car on congested roads helps our planet. Less congestion means less wasted fuel and less pollution!
Choose better foods- A good practice to try this Earth Day is eating in ways that better protect our people, our planet and our animals. Eating consciously with the environment in mind can mean a lot of different things. A few could include wasting less, choosing healthier options, reducing the rates of overfishing, buying local produce at a farmers market and trying out some meatless meals.
Plant something- Whether it be a tree, a garden or some flowers, planting is the perfect way to give back to our Earth. As simple as it sounds, every tree or plant is extremely beneficial to the environment and air we breathe. We want to help make this one easy on you.
